Agency president, Tanya Troska, started operations in 2015 after successfully launching a different marketing agency with two other colleagues and operating in the position of CIO of that California-based firm from 2009-2015. When that company exploded with new corporate-based business, Tanya brought the key learnings from her “growing pains” from that experience back home to Minnesota to focus on true small businesses and non-profit marketing managers.
Her decision to come home was spurred on by a growing realization that small businesses in local communities are often at a disadvantage against bigger companies. These small businesses are often ill-equipped when it comes to digital marketing. Consequently, they miss out on the benefits that increased online visibility can offer their brands. In worse cases, they end up spending a small fortune on the wrong marketing strategy that jeopardizes their business instead of helping it.
Tanya wanted to level the playing field. She found like-minded individuals to support her initiatives and launched Back2Basics over night and, essentially, created the most potent equalizer in the field of brand development and management for small businesses in Minnesota.
